Evangelion
Neon Genesis Evangelion lives up to all the hype that I have heard on it. The Character developement (especially at the end) is quite refreshing. I certainly just wanted to smack Shinji around on several occasions.
What struck me as very odd was the (to most fans) disappointing ending (of the TV version). Rumor has it that the director was limited by shrinking budgets and possible censor problems. I have no doubt that an alternate ending was intended just from the animatic scenes used for the preview segments fo the last two episodes (at least for the ADV DVD release).
I have geared up to watch the two movie set of Death & Rebirth and End of Evangelion. Hopefully the director's true vision was finally realized. I do have to admit that I was not disappointed with the TV end; but my view is tainted by the knowledge of the new ending.

This weeks movie on AZN was...
Roujin Z. It's about an experimental hospital bed used to administer to very old people in place of real live people. Everything on the bed is automated. Not to give too much of the story away, an old widower is selected for the experiment and is taken from his home. A nurse that usually visits him often figures out something isn't right and enlists a few friends to investigate. The bed also has a learning AI and you can guess what happens from there! I found it a cool inside joke, all the acronyms being thrown about. This movie was really quite hilarious.

Best of the Net...
Well I finally got around to (re) signing up to post on the forum at the Anime News Network. In my limited forays on the net, I found this site to be the best all around for content and information. Do you have a favorite anime website?

My apologies...
to anyone who stumbled across this blog looking for anime info and finding boring political commentary. I have two blogs! I must have been daydreaming about Sakaki from Azumanga Daioh or something when i posted (not one but three!) to the wrong blog. Now where did I put that cat?

So the Anime Movie shown on AZN was...
Odin. I was very disappointed. It has a good premise; spaceship crew rescues lone survivor who has lost her memory but leads them toward a new world type story. Not a new concept, but the technology and visuals are pretty good for 1985. Unfortunately, the version shown was the cut English language version. It cut in and out of the storyline and ended without showing the promised land. I wish I had access to a subbed version of the original version. I'm sure I would appreciate it a bit more.
I have confidence that AZN had no recourse but to show the version it did. Hopefully, this is the only watered down anime they have in their line-up. 0 comments

The chain is broken...
I found out a rather biting truth to life...there is a chain to my addiction which has been have job - have money - buy anime. Simple pleasures which I have been deprived of in my glorious retirement. Alas, I will endeavor to get said job in order to bond the circle once again, but man, what a pain.
At least I have a collection to revisit and some vids I have been saving to watch.
I'll try to get back to posting more, too.
Meanwhile, I have a new treat for you, a meld of two of my favorite things - Anime and music videos. Here I post a video created by Sephiroth (an anime video artist) using the anime Utena set to my most favored song. Courtesy of Yuri Studios.

Hmmm, what am I missing?
How about posts to this blog??? Well, I am looking for a job at the moment (which translates into no money to buy anime!). I guess I could see if the library has any videos...
That's a poor excuse, I know, I have viewed several anime titles which I have hardly mentioned here. No promises, but check back if you do come by.... 0 comments
